Daryl Hannah received heavy publicity for her arrest earlier this year in the deep mountain area of West Virginia for her protest against Mountain Top Removal, which is destroying irreplaceable landscapes to feed our addiction to energy. Women are in the forefront of environmentalism. Ecofeminism is definitely a rejection to the man. The people leading anti-environmentalism are people like Dick Cheney, and George W. Bush, who "weaken[ed] existing environmental legislation... opening up national forests to commercial interests."(538) The corruption of Capitalism is destroying the environment, and it is people, ecofeminists like Daryl Hannah that are attempting to destroy these profit-hungry people, but end up being arrested for doing so.
